Ashi studied at Manchester Metropolitan University, where she received awards for her very individualist work. As a student, she recognised how strongly the process of repetition, pattern, form and geometry affected both man and nature. Such notions she continues to incorporate in her work, while continuing to discover her strong links to India. Ashi, who was born in Tanzania, now incorporates a delightfully subtle use of colour in some of her designs, as a result of a bursary trip to Australia that allowed her to look closely at nature, which she does with a keen eye for detail.
